Creating this semi-synthetic plant-based fabric starts by harvesting trees which are specifically grown for the purpose of production in a closed-loop system. This approach avoids the negative impacts on the environment and natural ecosystems that come from traditional clear cut farming and deforestation. Once harvested, the wood from these trees is ground into a pulp which mixes with amine oxide to create a fully renewable material that can be spun into fiber. All chemicals used in the process are non-toxic and can be reused, reducing material waste and creating a cleaner environment for workers and for surrounding communities.
The resulting fabric is hypoallergenic, breathable, durable and as soft as rayon or silk - meeting our highest quality material standards. Best of all, because the fabric is derived from wood, it is fully biodegradable and compostable, helping us to preserve the planet for many years to come.
